Newfoundland and Labrador Immigration(NLPNP)

The province consists of two distinct land masses: Labrador, which is connected to the mainland, and the island of Newfoundland. A large number of its residents live in the provincial capital of St. John’s, which enjoys a lively culture that draws heavily from its coastal environment. The province has recently evolved into a significant economic force in the Canadian landscape due to a boom in energy and natural resources.

This Province while being in the shadows for many years is now fast becoming one of the most booming Provinces due to energy and natural resources found. Most people live in the Capital which is St. John. It borders the Atlantic ocean and hence is known as one of the prettiest Provinces in Canada. The Province consists of two sections – one being Newfoundland and the other being Labrador.

Under the NLPNP prospective immigrants with the skills and experience targeted by the province may receive a Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nomination Certificate, which will allow that foreign national to apply for Canadian permanent residence with processing times that are faster than other Canadian immigration classes.

The NLPNP accepts applications under the following immigration categories:

  • Newfoundland & Labrador Express Entry Skilled Worker
  • Skilled Workers with Family Support
  • Skilled Worker Category
  • International Graduate Category

Newfoundland & Labrador Express Entry Skilled Worker

Main points and minimum criteria:

  • Require a job offer from the Province in Skill levels 0, A or B. have a valid work permit or be eligible to apply for one.
  • Is not inadmissible to Canada
  • Application is under the Federal Express Entry System (EE) and must be acceptable to the EE pool.
  • NLPNP gives an additional 600 points on the EE comprehensive Ranking System which will provide a faster Invitation to Apply for Canadian residency
  • Have post secondary education with Credential Assessment if education is not in Canada.
  • Require results of a language test
  • Show proof of funds
  • Able to score 67 points on the Grid from 100.

Skilled Worker Category

NLPNP will accept an applicant who has a job offer from an employer in the Province and the employer is required to demonstrate there is a requirement for the applicant’s skills set in the Province. The offer must be full time.

Applicant must demonstrate education, Language skills , experience to perform the offered jobs and a matching skill set, have funds to settle in province .

Job offer can be skilled or Semi Skilled. Applicants inside or outside Canada who have an above offer may apply.

International Graduate Category

Main points and Minimum Criteria:

  • Should have completed at least half of the studies in Canada and must have a post graduate work permit valid for at least6 months at time of application.
  • Have a full time offer from an employer in the Province in an occupation related to the studies.
  • Proof of language ( please note submitted proof will be different for skilled from semi – skilled)
  • You maybe required to work in the related job for at least one year before applying ( not applicable to all applications)
